斯塔爾鮑姆家中正舉行聖誕派對晚會，家裡的兩個孩子克拉拉和弗里茲都收到了期待已久的禮物，克拉拉的聖誕禮物是一個軍官造型的胡桃鉗，雖然長得有些怪異但她卻好喜歡。入夜之後，克拉拉怎麼也睡不著，要去看一看她心愛的胡桃鉗，沒想到在大廳卻遇到老鼠王的攻擊…… 故事：「胡桃鉗與老鼠王」改編 作者： 威廉·霍夫曼（Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffmann, 1776－1822），而後，柴可夫斯基（Tchaikovsky, 1840－1893）根據大仲馬的改編版本加譜了芭蕾舞的音樂，成為時下常見的版本。     背景音樂：依照播放順序 (開場) Tchaikovsky/The Nutcracker Suite – Act 1, No.3.
