A snowstorm for the record books covered Houston, New Orleans and many other towns and cities across the southern U.S. on Tuesday, breaking snowfall records that have stood for over 100 years. At least 11 people have died. Also, the 663-foot Manitoulin, with a crew of 17 people on board, left Buffalo Wednesday morning after dropping off a load of wheat, and was heading to Sarnia, Ontario, when it became stuck in ice that was quickly forming on Lake Erie amid sub-zero temperatures offshore Buffalo.
