Bside Incoming: Szafran We’re very excited to bring you a wonderful DJ/Producer from Poland, he goes by the name of Szafran. Oskar Szafraniec plied his trade under the mentorship of the legendary A Guy Called Gerald before basing himself in Berlin where his regular appearances at Club der Visionaere, Watergate, Tresor and Salon zur Wilden Renate would fine tune his live performance. He has since released on notable labels like Rawax, Deset and Cyclo, and collaborated with some serious heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos and Pier Bucci. But, after an enforced end to his touring days, the industrious Polish DJ sought a change of scenery on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. A much needed break from performing and producing allowed a chance for new influences, inspirations, production styles, and his new alias: Szafran. The result is a beautiful balance of hardware, software, and organic sounds; breakbeat drum loops, synths, keys and the signature sound of a 303.
