My name is Eric, and I’m the host of the show.  As a first responder I have witnessed an over reliance on Emergency Services during major events. I started a small preparedness company to get people prepared and able to look after themselves for at least 72 hours. Alan - I’m Alan, a safety trainer, first responder, security expert, and overall safety nerd. Scott - First Responder splitting my time between Southern and Northern Ontario, I like learning things, and I don’t accept that things will always carry on as they have just because it would be convenient to me. Carmen - I’m Carmen, based in BC, I’m a Micro-homesteader, wife, and general domestic guru from canning to quilting to yes, throwing an axe lol 😂 And I’m glad to be back here this week to join you guys!  Eric- Want to help support the show and keep the Canadian Prepper Podcast on the air? Buy  some swag.  We have both the Canadian Prepper Podcast T-Shirt and the tactical velcro patch at www.prepperpodcast.ca. All proceeds help keep the lights on, and the backup generator fueled!   Scott -If you’re enjoying the show, please take a few minutes and like us on Facebook, and submit a review on itunes. Also we want your feedback, good or bad, or just if there’s a topic you want us to cover.  You can email us at  [email protected]    Eric – We have some content you’ll want to swipe right for in this episode. We’re going to start off with some preparedness related news. . Next we will let you know what we’ve done for preparedness this week.  Then we’ll get into the main topic - Finding Like Minded Individuals.     News - Alan - Hurricane Henri makes landfall on the east coast, looks like it’s going to be a wet few weeks for easterners https://www.ctvnews.ca/climate-and-environment/moving-inland-storm-henri-drenches-northeast-u-s-1.5556761   Eric -  Emergency preparedness is a low priority for British Columbians: poll    only 22% of British Columbians have established a meeting place with family or friends in the case of an emergency Just under three in 10 of the province’s residents have prepared a plan that includes how to get in touch with family or friends in case of an emergency.  only 38% of British Columbians have bought or prepared an emergency kit with supplies they might need in case of an emergency https://www.coastreporter.net/opinion/emergency-preparedness-is-a-low-priority-for-british-columbians-poll-4200895 Scott - https://www.reuters.com/business/global-supply-chains-buckle-virus-variant-disasters-strike-2021-07-23/ https://globalnews.ca/news/8110057/shipping-container-crisis-causes-shortages-and-delays/ My usual interest in how supply chains, and our ‘just-in-time’ manufacturing are having trouble with the pandemic AND all sorts of natural disasters.  I was listening to a different podcast, and it was looking at the slow slide of society, ‘the crumbles’ rather than a single cataclysmic event: global warming impacting the complex system of supply chains and such.   WHAT WE’VE DONE LATELY for preps Scott - Overheard someone talking about my MAG friend, and how their plan during a zombie apocalypse was to go to my friend’s place… a good lesson in grey man values…  On to Jeff, who has lots of stuff and lives at the address of.... Eric - Demo started on the house. . . that's why I missed last week, clearing the final things on our main floor. Did some tightening of my network at home, updates, firewall review, etc Alan - teaching, working, training, and building. Putting my generator to the test tomorrow as I get my hydro panel changed over   Carmen- prepped the guest room for guests coming in about a week or so, canned up 24 quarts of peaches, 18 pints of hamburger and with my husband got the trenches dug for irrigation in our yard! I think my house is on a bedrock of a gravel pit! We also ha
