Helping Kids with Hope When Disasters Steal School and Dreams

The fires in Lahaina, Hawaii on Maui created incredible destruction. One area few understand the devastation is in the area of education. Kids are displaced with their families, and many are unable to see the future of education or even to hope for a future for themselves and their friends.  Disasters not only steal opportunity, but they can rob children of the joy to dream and hope. Today, Dr. Kathy considers how kids develop and how parents and people working with kids can inspire hope and a sense of resolve in the face of disasters, whether they be natural or familial through broken marriages, challenged relationships, or the loss of a job or moving.
