In order for one to not only explore the gospels, but also to understand them, with the view to obtain the life found within them, it is important to have an appreciation of the concept of ‘Biblical Cultural Eisegesis'. Culture can be defined as the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of a particular people or society. Eisegesis can be defined as the process of interpreting a text or portion of text in such a way that the process introduces one's own presuppositions, agendas, or biases into the text. Biblical Cultural Eisegesis is when you project the ideas, customs and traditions of your culture into the scripture.
