The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have signed a draft peace agreement, with the hope to bring an end to over 30 years of conflict in the DRC's eastern mineral-rich region. Fighting escalated earlier this year when the Rwandan-backed M23 rebel group took control of the vital trading city of Goma, leaving hundreds of civilians dead and thousands displaced.
