Scripture References: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13  “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogantor rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;  it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”   Galatians 5:16-24 ”But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” Recommended Resources:  Movie: Fireproof with Kirk Cameron On Amazon Prime Video On DVD   Books: The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts (by Gary Chapman)  The 5 Love Languages for Children: The Secret To Loving Children Effectively (by Gary Chapman) The 5 Love Languages of Teenagers: The Secret to Loving Teens Effectively (by Gary Chapman)   The 5 Love Languages and some ideas of how to show them to your children or spouse: WORDS OF AFFIRMATION: Compliment them – encourage them - express appreciation – give a card – send a text – tell them you love them – tell them you’re proud – actively listen – put a note under their pillow – notice their efforts and acknowledge in front of others ACTS OF SERVICE: Help them clean their room – make them meals – help them get out the door on time – help with schoolwork – bring them a drink of water – help them with their chores –tuck them in at night PHYSICAL TOUCH: Comb their hair – scratch their back – rub their feet – cuddle and read a story – tickle them – pat them on the back – sit near them – welcome kisses and hugs – grou
