On June 1st, 2005, Paul Wolfowitz was appointed by President George W Bush to head the World Bank. The appointment of Wolfowitz to this ostensibly financial institution was especially notable at the time because his role just prior to this appointment was overseeing the wholesale privatization of the economy of occupied Iraq.
