On 18 October 2019, DA leader John Steenhuisen referred a complaint to the committee about Malema's alleged involvement in the VBS Mutual Bank scandal. Fast forward to a couple of days ago when Parliament reportedly exempted them from being guilty of any charges against stealing the VBS Mutual bank funds.
