Have you ever experienced or witnessed a lightning strike? During lightning storms, we were always instructed to turn off the TV, avoid electronics, like cellphones and water, cover mirrors, don’t stand under a tree etc. There was always a big fuss about lightning and stories of people being struck by it because they were standing underneath a tree during a storm. And lightning has also been associated with witchcraft in African culture. What makes lightning so dangerous, and what causes it? Tragically, this Sunday, a student from MUT was reportedly struck by lightning in his sleep and died.
