The Better Birth podcast with Erin Fung - Un pódcast de Erin - Lunes

In this episode I chat to the Mamma Coach Sophie Burch about her journey navigating 3 births, birth trauma and depression, all of which led her to create her courses and books. We discuss the importance of setting time aside for your own mental wellbeing, and how modelling good coping methods and communication also affects our children's abilities to regulate their own emotions. Sophie is a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist with Mindfulness and Coaching specialising in Perinatal & Parental Mental Health with additional training in PTSD & Trauma.  She has worked as a Trainer in PMH Awareness alongside Perinatal Mental Health experts and campaigners Dr Jane Hanley and Mark Williams, she has founded Beyond Birth Mental Wellbeing Practitioner Training and she supports Make Birth Better and Pandas Perinatal Mental Health Charity.   After 17 years working in the birth and baby world - having experienced mental health issues herself as a mother to four children (including twins) and witnessing her partner struggle as well as hundreds of her clients - Sophie decided that she had to take action where it was not being taken by the NHS and supporting services. She believes we’re missing a trick if we are not putting some preventative work into preparing for a baby on a mental level.  To this end she has written a book and parent support sessions: ‘Beyond Birth: Mindful Early Parenting’ to bring emotional wellbeing and mental health awareness to all people starting from conception, for life.  Sophie has also created and recorded content for the Nourish App (which helps mums with their mental and physical wellbeing) and regularly Vlogs and interviews perinatal mental health and parenting experts on her Instagram accounts.
