“Cybernetics is the Greek word for governor, that’s where it came from. It was introduced into the contemporary discussion with a book by Norbert Wiener in 1948 called Cybernetics: Or Control and Communication in the Animal and the Machine. These were the very early days of computers and they were looking for a theory to guide the creation of computers.” Stuart Umpleby is Professor Emeritus of Management at George Washington University School of Business. He has served as President of the American Society of Cybernetics and is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cybernetics and Systems. His studies in cybernetics, systems and management has led him to consult with the World Bank, US and Canadian government agencies as well as numerous corporate institutions throughout America, Europe, and Asia. · https://blogs.gwu.edu/umpleby
