Series 1, Episode 2: How to Work with Your Dreams

The Dream Boat - Un pódcast de DRI Centre for Dream Studies - Jueves

It's the single biggest question we get: "How can I work with my dreams?"  Lots of people want to know how to understand their dreams, what they mean, and what to do with them. In this episode Dave and Laura discuss that question from all angles. They reveal their own techniques to improve dream recall and talk about what they've learned from experience, reading, and the experts they've encountered.  Starting with how to encourage dreaming and dream recall, they discuss: Sleep routines Waking routines Setting dream intentions Using your dream journal to invite more dreams They also open up the world of dream interpretation and how to be curious about your own private dream language, symbology and associations. How far have you got towards discovering and developing a shared language with your unconscious? Dave and Laura also look at the DRI’s pioneering Waking Dream Technique (featuring in its own episode later in this series). They discuss how they use this method with therapy clients to make a difference to their lives and how they teach participants on dream courses to use the Waking Dream Technique to get the most from what their dreams bring them. Listen to how Dave and Laura further explore dream interpretation with this episode's Dream of The Week as they read a dream from a psychotherapy student - all about keys, friends, a dried up river, mud and cleansing - and a very clear message! They consider its imagery, symbols and figures, and its alchemical content. There's more to this dream – the second part will be explored in a subsequent episode. They conclude with further tips on how to develop your own dream language and interpretation methods so you can engage more deeply with your inner dream world and bring it alive.
