New piece commissioned by The Lake for the 5th edition of Works For Radio. Description: Smoking started out as a series of recordings I made in Oslo wandering around, meeting people, and traveling on public transportation, but keeping my phone under pillows or clothing. I wanted to make something casual, a collage of everyday life, but from under the skin. Of course this led me to start writing about mothers and daughters... and cigarettes.
