HOUR 2 - Mike Lange on 93.7 The Fan, Bob Pompeani, Steve Mears
The PM Team w/Poni & Mueller - Un pódcast de Audacy - Miercoles

There was one time in the Fan’s 15-year history that Mike Lange was able to join a show, due to a contractual clause he had at the time. We listened back to some clips when Lange joined Starkey & Mueller years ago. KDKA TV legend Bob Pompeani joined the show. Another loss was suffered today in Pittsburgh when we got news that longtime KDKA weatherman, Jon Burnett, passed away. Pomp reflected on that before we got into the passing of Mike Lange. Bob said Lange’s preparation was almost unmatched. Bob talked about the generations of fans that Lange got into hockey at a young age. Pomp loved the ‘Elvis has just left the building’ line that Lange used to indicate a Penguins victory. Bob thinks the United States wins the Four Nations Face-off. Columbus Blue Jackets PXP voice Steve Mears joined the show. Steve talked about growing up in Pittsburgh and Mike Lange being the soundtrack of his childhood. Steve said he knew at 10-years-old that he wanted to be a PXP guy and never thought he would be working with Lange one day. Steve talked about his favorite memories with Lange that weren’t often spent at the hockey rink. Steve said he’d often find Lange at the video roulette machine with a beer and cigarette in hand in their trips to the casino. Steve talked about how Mike could meet the moment with his calls time and time again, which made him a world-class broadcaster.
