Remi Drozd, D.O. - The Journey to Conscious Health: Getting the Most Out of Ketamine Therapy

The Psychedelic Podcast - Un pódcast de Third Wave

Dr. Remi Drozd and Paul F. Austin dive deep into ketamine therapy: telemedicine vs. in-person, the skill of surrender, and willing participation. Find episode links, summary, and transcript here. Dr. Remi Drozd, D.O. is the founder and executive director of Lucid Therapeutics. He is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with 15 years of experience and a fellowship in wilderness medicine. Remi became dissatisfied with western medicine, realizing that many elements of primary health, particularly mental health, were being mismanaged in the existing system. In 2020, he learned about the healing potential of psilocybin during a workshop led by the Johns Hopkins scientist Bill Richards, and ultimately decided to dedicate his professional efforts to a different way of practicing medicine. He has completed training for Ketamine Therapy at the Psychedelic Coalition for Health and the MDMA Therapy Training Program through the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). At Lucid Therapeutics (formerly Santa Barbara Ketamine Therapy), Remi provides a high-touch, holistic approach to ketamine-assisted therapy. He and his team of integration coaches, specifically trained in non-ordinary consciousness, help shepherd clients through their tremendous psychedelic experiences. Outside of the office, Remi enjoys kitesurfing in the waves, cycling the Santa Barbara hills, and being with his family. Highlights: How early psychedelic experiences gave Remi the calling to shift from his career as an ER doctor to other forms of healing. A deeper look at ketamine and its history of use from anesthetic to a treatment for depression and suicidality. How the hands-on approach at Remi’s clinic differentiates itself from that at an infusion center. The importance of coaching alongside psychedelic experiences. Comparing potential outcomes of telemedicine to the “thick-wall container” of the in-person clinic experience. Why the “skill of surrender” is so important—and so difficult. Balancing the capacity to let go with the commitment to living consciously engaged in the world. Insights from Remi’s psychedelic training journey. The demographics that visit Remi’s clinic, and how individuals are screened. The need for willing participation when it comes to transformation.
