Last Rites of Paranormal Conspiracies (5/22/25)

The Secret Teachings - Un pódcast de Ryan Gable

The story of Annabelle Higgins and the doll with her name is a paranormal haunting classic. How much of it is true and how much of it is fake, that’s another story - was it a spirit, demon, or something else. So is the public perception of that story which became immensely popular with the Conjuring film franchise. Even the doll itself, originally an innocent looking Raggedy Ann, was changed out for a menacing porcelain faced doll with longer limbs for the movie. Now that the doll has been moved from Ed and Lorraine Warren’s museum in Connecticut for the “Devil’s on the Run Tour” - which violates the legendary the protections put in place by the Warrens - there have supposedly been some mysterious occurrences. The internet is proposing that the doll’s presence in the French Quarter of New Orleans has resulted in convicted murderers escaping from a nearby prison and a fire that burned down one of the oldest plantation houses in the southern U.S. Although the prison was somewhat close the plantation was over two hours away. The doll was not present at either - check the map. Maybe there is something to this story, maybe it’s another piece of click-bait, clout-chasing, cash-grabbing nonsense, or maybe it’s just a marketing stunt. Hollywood has a long history of pulling publicity stunts to promote movies, sometimes comical and other times downright real, from films like Smile to classics like Independence Day and The Blair Witch Project - even shows like Stranger Things. Whereas sometimes bizarre art-reality mimicries may be pre or post predictive programming, other times it is nothing more than a marketing project. For a middle of the road film franchise like the “Conjuring” a time window of about 3-6 months is selected for optimal promotion of each film. And right on schedule this week of May 19th, 2025, articles began to flow about The Conjuring 4 (Last Rites) and its release date of September 5, 2025 — approximately 4 months from the start of the supposed paranormal doll activity in Louisiana this same week.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements.
