Hello Rush fans! John and Dan here… For us, admiring such a geeky band has come with much ridicule. Perplexed, our friends couldn’t understand rock songs about fantasy, religion, libertarianism, and philosophy. For a time, it felt like Rush were a band that we could embrace as our own. Yet, with the groups rise in fame and broader audience appeal, they were no longer the biggest cult band everyone hated. Suddenly it became cool to love Rush. After over 40 years Rush released a total of 20 studio albums, 11 live albums as well as numerous compilation albums, of which 24 have gone gold, and 14 platinum. And it has only been a decade or so that they have become a household name. So why did it take Rush this long to become mainstream?
