Sun Ra maintained throughout his life that he was from Saturn, here on earth to spread a message of peace through his music. His music is some of the most stylistically diverse ever produced by one man, ranging from standard bebop-ish jazz to wild free jazz freakouts, to sound collage/musique concrete, to wholly new and unique experiments with electronic instruments.
