On today’s roundtable, Sallie Goetsch and John Locke joined the show’s co-host Kim Shivler to share tips for making your websites mobile friendly along with recent news stories. While mobile responsive design has been around for many years, and you would think everyone was designing this way by now, we find that many people still ignore it. From large background videos that don’t load well on phones to content that is designed for a print layout not online layout, we still see major issues trying to access websites from a mobile device. John Locke’s top tips included: Pay attention to the typography. He finds many sites with small fonts that are not legible on mobile. He recommends font sizes of at least 16 pixels. Tap targets, those buttons you must tap with your finger on a mobile device, need to be big enough to tap on.
